MAMMA MIA! joined Tony’s DiNapoli’s “Broadway Wall of Fame” on March 25th, 2009 at the Times Square eatery. “My Fox New York” reporter Shani Petroff was on the scene to capture the excitement, and speak to the Broadway stars of the musical now in its 8th hit year at the Winter Garden Theatre and celebrating over 3,000 performances.
The portrait unveiling ceremony and party was hosted by restaurateur Bruce Dimpflmaier and emceed by media personality Valerie Smaldone. Prints made from the original oil painting by Dan May will be autographed by the cast and auctioned to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
MAMMA MIA! joined a gallery of portraits honoring other hit Broadway musicals including Jersey Boys, Spring Awakening and Wicked as well as Broadway stars Daniel Radcliffe (Equus); Hugh Jackman (The Boy From Oz); Harry Connick; Jr. (The Pajama Game) and Antonio Banderas and Chita Rivera (Nine).
